SUMMARY:Lay School of Ministry - Online February 9th 2024
DESCRIPTION:February Zoom only. Terry will speak to students of all ages at this online event. Not open to the public. Your prayers are appreciated.  \n. \nThe Creation of a the First Nation Version (FNV) of the New Testament\, Terry Wildman\, Translator of FNV\, Director of Rain Ministries \n.\nThe Lay School of Ministry was started 30 years ago to help lay people reflect carefully on the faith and faithfulness. It begins with a two year program (a total of 108 contact hours) that almost all those in your session will have completed in previous years. The basics cover Scripture\, history and confession of the faith (Lutheran emphasis)\, spiritual formation\, liturgy\, and leadership.\n.\nAfter they have completed this\, we offer 54 hours of continuing education each year. Typically we have about 40 participants tuning in on a given year\, most but not all are retirement age and Lutheran. While some of the sessions are a combination of Zoom and in-person attendance\, the February session is exclusively on Zoom. Given the place we live (Wisconsin)\, we make an effort to have Native speakers at least once a year. In 2017\, we dedicated a whole year to explore and repudiate the Doctrine of Discovery (I’ll attach the speakers and topics from that year so you know the level we generally have when addressing such an issue.) Some of the participants come with over a thousand hours of continuing education covering biblical\, justice\, and related issues from a theological standpoint.\n.\nSeveral speakers have mentioned your translation and so I followed the buzz to you and we are thrilled that you will be available. On a personal note\, during a series on the Lord’s Prayer I included your translation of Matt 6 and people were deeply engaged in your rendering.
